PENETRON ADMIX CRYSTALLINE WATERPROOFING AND DURABILITY ADMIXTURE

PENETRON ADMIX is a non-toxic, 3rd generation crystalline admixture in powder form that is added to new concrete during batching. Once inside the concrete, it reduces concrete permeability by permanently self-healing microcracks, pores and capillaries and effectively protecting the concrete against water penetration and the effects of deterioration, even under high hydrostatic pressure. PENETRON ADMIX provides projects with waterproof and durable concrete that has the ability to self-heal and seal cracks that develop during the lifetime of the concrete.

PENETRON ADMIX is compatible with all commonly used workability admixtures (e.g. superplasticizers, retarders) and mix design formulations (trial mixes recommended prior to casting).

How It Works

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a crystalline waterproofing admixture?

A crystalline waterproofing admixture is added to concrete during batching. It reacts with water and cement to grow crystals inside the concrete's pores and micro-cracks, sealing it permanently against water penetration.

How is PENETRON ADMIX different from a waterproofing membrane?

A membrane sits on the surface and can be punctured or degrade. PENETRON ADMIX becomes an integral part of the concrete, self-seals hairline cracks over time, and lasts the life of the structure.

Is PENETRON ADMIX a permeability-reducing admixture (PRA)?

Yes. It functions as a permeability-reducing admixture for hydrostatic conditions (PRAH) as described in ACI 212.3R, making it suitable for structures under constant water pressure.

Where is crystalline waterproofing admixture used?

Typical applications include basements, foundations, water and wastewater tanks, tunnels, bridges, and marine structures — anywhere durable, integral waterproofing is required.
